The task of writing on this site appeared too daunting, but then I considered a way of saving myself the bother. I would ask my friends to do the work, each to write on a specialist subject, and that makes it a unique website anywhere, and certainly in the UK. Many of these writers are experts in their subject, some the best in Britain or the world, whilst others are mere enthusiasts.

The design of this website is hopefully, unique in its scope, artistic and pleasing to the eye, a huge website but extremely simple, fast and informative. When we look closely at nature, or indeed human nature, we see it is in reality brutal, cruel, red in tooth and claw, merciless, obeying Darwin's laws, with few signs of altruism - - but it is also beautiful. We see the savage side of our world nightly on 'The News', so I mainly strive to show the wonders of nature, the colours, the awe. I also try to show the better side of people, with portraitures or those on their happiest day.

The use, or non-use of capitals for species throughout the site is left to the writers - see www.natureandpictures.co.uk/goosander.htm
The 3 conditions for accepting a wildlife submission were:

1) The articles were written exclusively for this site and nowhere else, otherwise it might as well be reference to a publication or a simple hyperlink.
2) The wildlife articles were all from my friends. More than encouraging newcomers, more than showing various organisations to join, this has saved me from having to work.
3) The submissions had to be short, especially where there was a suitable hyperlink, and where possible, pleasing to the eye. For example, there is little point in over-extolling the unique virtues of the Clanfield Observatory or the Chichester Planetarium, they have their own excellent websites, but simply let people know they are there and give a personal perspective.
This site will only be modified a few times a year, for each season, it is not a diary. If anyone wishes to submit an article, then they will be welcomed and appraised. Do not feel troubled if you are unsure of your writing abilities, with your permission articles can be edited, or thrown in the bin.
Please feel free to contact me, especially regarding anything. If you spot errors, let me know, upset me if you must, but if you know of a good photographic opportunity, you might even get a reply.
If you want an organisation mentioned, or a commendable charity to do with the natural world, then it can only be considered, but I should warn you, I am wide open to bribes.
